Welcome Mathenjwa from our support centre made his third appearance at the Comrades Marathon on Sunday, 28 August 2022. The superhero crossed the finish line in an impressive time of 9:09:04, managing to shed eight minutes from his last Comrades run in 2019.

Our super family was behind him all the way. Super Tyres sponsored his entry fees and running gear and staff members cheered him on. Staff, friends and family spent the Sunday at the Pinetown branch where the ultra-marathon route passes. The gazebo, boerewors and refreshments were the perfect perks of this cheering station. The team tracked Welcome through their apps and everyone gathered around as he approached the branch. Dean, the MD, assumed the role of masseuse, working on Welcome’s aches whilst Belinda, manager of the Pinetown branch, motivated him during his pit stop. Seeing Welcome looking so strong left everyone in high spirits. The squad wished him well as he took off for his last stretch towards Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Welcome thanked his Super family for the support. He shared a heart-warming message via the WhatsApp group:
