Tamalin Nyman, a single mother from Durban and an avid listener of the East Coast Radio Breakfast Show, fell on hard times. With R9000 in overdraft, an inability to receive another loan from the bank and less than R5 in her bank account, Tamalin felt torn apart trying to stay afloat for the sake of her son.

In a state of hope and desperation, Tamalin entered Darren Maule’s Quick Quiz and was lucky enough to win R4000. When asked what she would do with the money, East Coast Radio learnt about the challenges she faced as a single parent. Tamalin was having to choose between a loaf of bread to make her son’s school lunch or putting petrol in her car to get him to school. Meanwhile, the tyres on her car were deteriorating and she was close to running on the rims. 

With this feedback, East Coast Radio had the idea to call in Super Tyres for a possible tyre sponsorship. Dean Horn, the Managing Director of Super Tyres, was invited into the East Coast Radio studios to surprise Tamalin with four free tyres for fitting on her car. This incredible gesture was a huge relief for Tamalin, who felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders. 

Super Tyres is both proud and delighted to play a small part in her story and give back to someone in need. This was another small step in the right direction. We look forward to the next step.
