Founded by Bob and Joslin Horn, Super Tyres has always stood for honesty, reliability, and family values. Over 55 years, it has grown into a trusted tyre fitment brand across KwaZulu-Natal, serving generations of loyal customers. When Dean joined in 1998, he stepped into a business with solid foundations — yet the next chapter was just beginning.
Starting as a dispatch clerk, Dean learned the business from the ground up. From stock control to customer service, every role gave him insight into the daily operations and challenges, shaping a leadership style rooted in empathy and practical experience.
Stepping Into Leadership
Dean’s progression was earned through commitment and hard work. In 2011, after years of hands-on involvement, he became CEO, taking the reins of the family business while staying true to its values: growth, integrity, family, fun, time, and safety (GIFFTS).
Under his leadership, Super Tyres has embraced modern systems, expanded its footprint, invested in its people, and adapted to industry changes — all while staying true to its family culture. Initiatives like Asibambisane (Let’s Carry Each Other) demonstrate that success is most meaningful when shared, supporting staff as well as local charities such as the Siripat Lions Rugby Club and LIV Village Durban, and contributing to the wider community.
