In the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, Super Tyres stores across KwaZulu-Natal proudly rolled up their sleeves on 18 July to honour Mandela Day with impactful acts of service in their local communities. Guided by the ethos of giving back and making every minute count, our teams united under the banner of “it is in your hands”, each bringing something special to the table.
Empangeni: Driving Comfort and Care
The Super Tyres Empangeni team went the extra mile by offering free wheel alignments and balancing to two incredible community organisations — the Empangeni SPCA and the Zululand Hospice Association. In addition, customers were treated to warm bowls of soup, bringing both comfort and nourishment to those visiting the store during the chilly winter day.

Beach Clean-Up with a Sporting Surprise
Across the coast, Super Tyres Umgeni, and Super Tyres Brickhill Road teamed up for a meaningful beach clean-up, joined by enthusiastic youngsters from the Siripat Lions Rugby Club. The day ended on a high note when the children were surprised with 10 brand-new rugby balls for their club — a gesture that brought huge smiles and left a lasting impact.

Local Mandela Day Efforts in Pietermaritzburg and Pinetown
In Pietermaritzburg, the Super Tyres team took to the streets, quite literally, by cleaning the area outside their store to create a more welcoming environment for the community.

Meanwhile, in Pinetown, our staff lent a hand at the Kloof & Highway SPCA, helping tidy and clean the premises — a small but meaningful act that helps the organisation continue its vital work in animal welfare.

South Coast: Cleaning for a Cause
Super Tyres South Coast employees spent their time participating in a beach clean-up at Bluff Beach. Their efforts not only contributed to preserving the natural beauty of the area but also raised awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship.

Making Every Day Count
Mandela Day serves as a powerful reminder that each of us can be a force for positive change — and the Super Tyres family is proud to have played our part. Whether it was serving soup, scrubbing streets, or gifting rugby balls, our teams showed up with compassion, commitment, and community spirit.
As Madiba said, “It is in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.” We’re honoured to take that mission to heart — not just on Mandela Day, but every day.
