27 year old, Philani Mfeka, is part of the YES program (Nov 2021) and was one of the first intakes via the “Siripat Lions Rugby Club Mentorship program”. This program uses rugby as an outlet for underprivileged and unemployed youth, they also find employment for candidates with potential and Philani was such a beneficiary. When the program started, Philani struggled with transport money and the stipend was not enough, but he did not let that stop him! He started cutting grass for extra income, and has since registered the grass cutting biz, bought 2 machines, opened a Facebook page, employed 2 people that cut whilst he is at work AND is already investing some income!
His mentor, Deon, recognised potential in Philani and appointed him as manager at Siripat Lions Rugby Club. Philani says Deon is very instrumental in his growth as he believes in him and assisted him to get his egg business started, another entrepreneurial venture of Philani
